Department Overview Motorola's Access Control Division's mission is to improve your workday with smart office
technology at your front door. We are looking for candidates who can help us build, scale and innovate as we develop our industry leading platform for access control and office automation. Strong analytical and software skills are a must in order to join our team, and we are particularly seeking candidates with experience and skills in multiple technologies, in order to contribute broadly to our team-centric approach to
product development.

We are looking for someone to help us grow the infrastructure to seamlessly support the
business and its growing customer base. Engineers, customers, and end-users will all be affected by solutions developed by our team. It’s a full stack on a small team with big company support.

Responsibilities
Create better health and capacity insights of the controllers and all related systems. Develop automated healing to improve the stability of the controllers.
Design and implement a standardized build/release solution for all products.
Maintain and improve the deployment of software to remote devices installed at the customer site (controllers).
Work with teams on new technologies (such as video integration or new controller hardware) to consult on Linux-based issues or
design challenges, implement required software configuration, participate in the
product development as needed.
Third tier troubleshooting complex OS and software-related issues on the controllers.
Qualifications
2+ years of experience with
Python or Go
Familiar with
JavaScript is a plus - Interest or experience with other high level languages is a plus.
Experience developing internal-use tools automating tasks
Focus on modern approaches to build and release software into large scale production environments.
Understanding of containerization and related technologies
Extensive experience operating, troubleshooting and configuring Linux-based systems (especially Debian or Ubuntu) to include:
3+ years experience operating linux based systems in a large scale production environment.
Configuring Linux for performance
Diagnosing and resolving issues on Linux systems resulting from underperformance, misconfiguration, faulty software, or a hardware component.
Solid understanding of metrics collection and analysis as it relates to the health and performance of Linux based systems.
Strong ability to communicate ideas, designs and situations.
Familiarity with single board computing (SBC) platforms such as Pine64, Raspberry Pi or others is an advantage.
The base salary for this position in California is $100,000 - $150,000.
