As an Automation Engineer on the CDN team, you will help build the infrastructure, develop and test software to support the systems that deliver IP content for a wide range of mobile and first-screen television devices. As part of the larger Comcast engineering teams, you will help shape the next generation of IP content delivery and transform the customer experience. Using the tenets of DevOps, you will have the opportunity to own the entire stack, from architecture to production.

Traffic Control is the Open Source CDN control plane for which we lead the development and testing, and this project represents our primary focus. Want to learn more? We deliver petabytes of traffic and billions of transactions every day. Our software infrastructure is crucial in analyzing this data to visualize trends, and enable deep-diving into issues.

Responsible for the development and maintenance of automation software and tools that will improve the build, test and deployment phases of Traffic Control. Automation engineer should be capable of working with minimal guidance in own area of knowledge.
Develop and maintain automation frameworks and solutions used in the development, validation, and/or debug of Traffic Control.
Work with development and QA teams to set up CI/CD pipelines for Traffic Control test and production environments.
Improve build, test, and deploy automation stability by identifying weaknesses in the CI/CD pipelines and adding improvements.
Identify and analyze system and environment issues, determine root cause, propose, and deliver maintainable solutions.
Research and evaluate 3rd-party automation, monitoring and reporting solutions.
Troubleshoot production Traffic Control issues and support the greater CDN platform as needed.
Develop a deep understanding of the interactions between all components of the CDN control plane to propose and develop high-value automation tools.
Get along with application developers to define feature requirements and any requirements necessary for build, test, and deployment automation.
Perform code reviews for the team and provide constructive feedback in terms of standard processes and maintainability of proposed code changes.
Display knowledge of automation engineering methodologies, concepts, skills, and their application.
Consistently exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

The CDN team is a quasi-startup group within Comcast’s Technology and Product Division and is based in Denver’s LoDo district. Our technology is open-source based, and our products deliver video and other content over IP infrastructure to an array of connected devices in and out of the home.

Relevant Work Experience
Pay Range: $100,475.81 - $150,713.72
Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience.
