The Role Battery Cells are the common denominator for every Tesla product. Our product requirements demand ground-up cell architectures with state-of-the-art performance, manufactured at volumes that are orders of magnitude higher than the products they power. Responsibilities Execution and maintenance of lithium ion cell tests using cell cycling equipment, specialized temperature control fixtures and circulators. Write test plans, propose design of experiments and summarize results in test reports. Build and assemble fixturing for battery testing. Perform cell level destructive physical analysis and other analytical techniques to analyze mechanisms of energy and power loss in lithium ion cells. Ensure the highest possible data integrity from the lab. Be a member of a cross functional product development team to help determine the ideal cell chemistry and design for Tesla products
Requirements Some coding experience preferred (i.e. MATLAB, Python, and/or similar data analysis tool) Knowledge of electrical test equipment used in battery cell testing or equivalent Ability to learn new concepts and methods, propose design of experiments, and execute independently Familiar with calibration and maintenance of test equipment Understanding of lithium ion cell safety and its risks
