DESCRIPTION
Are you an engineering student or just like to code? Ever wonder what's behind the curtain of a website with millions of users and billions of game plays? Help the Sporcle Engineering team make the user experience even better. This role will assist with bringing new and exciting quizzes to the world by getting involved in web- based and application development projects.
Use your analytical, engineering-focused mind and knowledge of programming languages to help the Sporcle team develop programs and improve software to meet needs.
If you are intellectually curious, like finding better ways to do things, and can see the "big picture" when it comes to solving challenges, then this may be the job for you. (Note that this is not an internship.)
EXPECTATIONS
- Read and follow design documents and specifications
- Support team in testing software
- Recommend upgrades or improvements for existing systems and programs
- Develop separate elements of software that work well in the program as a whole
- Ensure continued functionality of a program during maintenance and testing of software
- Document each aspect of a system or application as a reference for future upgrades and maintenance
- Fix bugs with a minimum impact on existing systems
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
- Familiarity with standard web technologies: HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, Ruby, or Python, regardless of whether you are pursuing an education or a hobby.
- Use analysis and critical thinking skills to determine and assess the needs of the user
- Work on numerous parts of a system or application at the same time while being accurate and thorough.
- Work well with others on the team of Designers, Developers, and Programmers using effective interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Ability to efficiently identify and resolve issues that arise during the design, testing, and maintenance processes using problem-solving skills.

- Working toward a Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred but not required)
COMPENSATION
$20.00-$25.00 / hour depending upon education and experience
