Job DescriptionThis is a remote position, the selected candidate can reside and perform the work from anywhere within the United States.
We are influencing the transformation of future transportation with ADAS and Automated Driving. The
Automated Driving Compute System Architecture team is focused on definition, design, analysis, and approval of leading-edge silicon for those functions. Those System on Chip (SoC) consist of various compute capabilities including CPU, GPU, Image Signal processing (ISP) pipelines and Machine Learning Accelerator (MLA)].
We are looking for an experienced, high-performing
Computer Science Engineer to support the
Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Automated Driving Compute Platform, who will be responsible to enable GM's safety-critical ADAS compute technology roadmap and controllers. The position provides for a unique experience that includes the combination of advanced silicon performance analysis and definition, and involvement in cutting edge technology. This experience includes exposure to high level management as well as opportunities to work with experts in the field of controls.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform SoC architectural analysis and modeling, focusing on forecasting CPU, data bus bandwidth, memory utilization, ISP bandwidth, and utilization of other resources across various subsystems on the SoC
- Perform detailed analysis of the existing software to provide workload characterizations/loading to assist in SoC resource utilization by deploying tools to benchmark
- Make architectural recommendations to improve performance and memory utilization, as well as software optimizations and SW/HW partitioning
- Develop tools and processes, as needed, for SoC performance modeling
- Adapt existing tools and/or design and implement a new framework for composing small standalone microkernels into a system level benchmark suite
- Using high level languages such as Python or Javascript, implement a framework to orchestrate lower-level (native CPU, GPU or accelerator based) high performance libraries, generating input data on the fly, checking results correctness, injecting errors during execution, and collecting detailed execution logs for post-processing
- Use meta-programming to overload conventional language syntax to transparently execute work kernels asynchronously and/or execute on an accelerator. Use Service Oriented Architectures (Publish/Subscribe frameworks) to communicate between and synchronize compute kernels and I/O loads
- Support RFI reviews with silicon suppliers as needed
- Develop standardized internal analysis for benchmarking SoCs & DLAs
- Compute resource utilization analysis and allocation
- Analyze ADAS feature workload allocation into target SoC
- Lead compute feasibility studies for future product with little or ambiguous information
- Communicate information to and from internal and external customer organizations
Additional Job DescriptionBasic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related technical degree
- Minimum of 3 years experience in computer engineering
- Experience implementing software tools written in high level scripting languages such as Python, Javascript, etc.
- Automatic instrumentation of source code for performance analysis
- Experience processing multi-gigabyte logs
- Familiarity with machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow and PyTorch
- Exposure to "hard real-time" processing (i.e. Enforcing strict time & space limitations)
- Experience with Publish/Subscribe frameworks
- Knowledge of deep machine learning and/or artificial intelligence on smart machines
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication (oral & written) skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- Design/Development of Safety Critical Systems/Components
- Experience with Automated Driving sensors (Cameras, Lidars, Radars, Ultrasonic Sensors) a plus
- DFMEA training and DFSS Certification
- Knowledgeable about microprocessor design and theory
- Knowledgeable about embedded system & software as it pertains to engineering of required tools
